snaptuThe Israeli start-up Snaptu (formerly, Mobilca) raised a venture capital investment from Sequoia Capital.

The Tel-Aviv based start-up, founded by Ran Makavy, Barak Naveh, Lior Tal and Micha Berdichevsky, allows users to run “smart applications” such as ones found on the iPhone or Android environment on various kinds of cellphones, especially those with a Java-based operating system.

Among the applications the company offers: Twitter APIs, Facebook, Picasa, News Sites, RSS Feed Readers and similar applications for reading and sending information to and from web servers.


Currently, Snaptu allows free use of its applications.
