nielsenCalcalist’s Asaf Gilad has revealed that Nielsen’s development center in Hertzelia is set to move the company’s development operations to India, resulting in the firing of roughly sixty Israeli employees, most of which are programers specializing in developing semantic search engines and identifying online trends.

The Nielsen development center, which belongs to the global Nielsen group (which, in 2007, took over the Israeli company BuzzMetrics), also relies on the technology and employess of Trendum, Intelliseek and NetRatings, three former Israeli start-ups that found their way into the Nielsen global group.

In the last several years, Nielsen VP of development was David Tenne, and the president of the development center was Ori Levy, the man behind the start-up Trendum and a current investor in the start-up Sense of Fashion.

Nielsen has yet to give word on the two’s future in the company.
