qwilt_networksBoy, are you guys in for a treat.

Now that StartUpMania has been up and running for a while, we thought we’d give you a glimpse into the inner workings of the website. Show just how we get those juicy little news-morsels to your doorstep.

We at StartUpMania have a intricate and vast network of spies and informants (also known as “you guys”) that send us links, hints and leads to new, up-and-coming start-ups, ones no one has ever heard of. We love that part of our job, and implore you to keep at it – send us anything you think will interest us. Your leads give us the necessary energy to go out and investigate new stories, each and every day.

Your referrals also lead us to countless meetings with fascinating entrepreneurs and exciting new technologies. Feel free to send us an e-mail with any nugget of information regarding new start-ups you may have heard of, we’ll take it from there. If you wish to remain anonymous, that’s not a problem, just make sure you let us know, we love passing credit around to other people and you need to tell us not to.

So once we have those leads, what do we do with them? After receiving the information from you, and assuming we’re unfamiliar with the start-up in question, we cross reference with our various information resources at our disposal and our contacts (we’d like to say these contacts meet us on nondescript park benches, but it’s usually a phone call, unfortunately).

We then try to contact the people leading the new startup, and if the new venture seems to be interesting to our readers – this could stem from the people behind it, the technology driving it forwards, a large investment or any other reason, we will give you any and all the details we can dig up.

After our initial publication, which is more often than not the first time the project is mentioned online, any analyst/journalist/blogger/IT manager/investor/entrepreneur who happens to read our site can try and contact the people behind the new project.

If a certain project catches your eye, you can always reach those responsible for it. The internet makes the world a small place, once you know your way around it. Most times, we will be able to point you the right direction, with contact details. If you’d like to receive contact information for one of our published companies – send us an e-mail, we’ll help if we can.

So, now you know the process that happens, invisibly to your eyes, behind each and every news story StartUpMania publishes. What’s that? You’re not really interested in the process and just want the good bits? We’ve got an exclusive for you – particularly interesting to those in the Telco gear field. Tomorrow will see the full reveal, but we’ve got the first bit for you.

Our sources, who asked to remain anonymous, tell us that Dan Sahar, former Director of Product Management at Crescendo Networks, as well as a former executive at Juniper Networks and Kagoor Networks, is one of few people behind a new start-up: Qwilt Networks. Sahar and partners place to provide Telco companies with an optimization appliance, one that should better utilize the service provider’s bandwidth capabilities.

Qwilt Networks are still operating in stealth mode, but should this field catch your interest, you can contact them through this link.
