Yaron Orenstein, of StartUpMania friends thecoils.com, is spending his week in San Francisco, at the annual start-up convention hosted by the blog TechCrunch. He reports of 7 different Israeli initiatives which have been chosen to showcase their product at the TC50 event. This event spotlights 50 companies from all around the world who present their products to the attendants of the show. In addition, Orenstein reports, a large number of Israeli start-ups can be found scattered across the DemoPit – an area where over 200 companies are presenting their own products.
We will keep our ears to the ground regarding any and all news out of ‘Frisco, and see if any of these up and coming companies manage to send those tingles of excitement down our spines. If you can’t wait for our exhilarating pieces to go live (and happen to be awake in the small hours of the night), you can get a live feed of coverage, through Orenstein’s Twitter.
Last year, incidentally, Israeli start-ups AlfaBetic, Tweegee, MytTopia, devunity and plaYce presented at the show. Did the exposure help any of these companies over the past 12 months? Did they justify the spot on TC50?
StartUpMania’s crack crew of research-monkeys couldn’t find any definitive signs. Which makes us wonder by what criteria do the head honchos at TechCrunch choose those who earn the spotlight, and how many of those that do seize the coveted spot actually make something out of it.
Stay tuned to StartUpMania.net for the latest news out of TechCrunch.
